The Brain and Spine Institute is a leading force in the field of neurosciences in the Philippines. It provides a full spectrum of neurological services for adults and pediatric with disorders of the brain, spine, and neurovascular abnormalities through its subspecialty centers: the Philippine Gamma Knife Center, the Brain and Spine Tumor Center, the Philippine Movement Disorder Surgery Center, the Cardinal Santos Spine Center, the CSMC Stroke Service, the Neurophysiology Center, and the Cardinal Santos Memory Center.
It is a recognized referral center for neurological diseases in the country.
The Philippine Gamma Knife Center at Cardinal Santos Medical Center was established in 1998. It committed to providing our patients with neurosurgical care and technology that was, at the time, only available outside of the country. Established at a time when few specialists were interested in the field, the Center was envisioned as a center of excellence in Stereotactic Neurosurgery and Radiosurgery for the Philippines.
The creation of The Philippine Movement Disorder Surgery Center in 2005, marked another milestone in Philippine healthcare as it gave Filipinos, for the very 1st time, access to surgical care for disabling movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and dystonia (X-linked Dystonia Parkinsonism).
In 2008, the Brain and Spine Tumor Center was established. It was envisioned to be a premier neurooncology service geared towards providing a tteam-oriented multidisciplinary and standardized manner of diagnosis and treatment for patients with brain and spine tumors. To this day, the group conducts weekly multidisciplinary conferences and doctors from other institutions are welcome to present their cases to the group.
Part of its mission is to provide education for future specialists through regular symposia raising awareness on the importance of unbiased, multispecialty, comprehensive care.
Established in 2010 the CSMC Spine Center is considered an authority in the comprehensive management of spine disorders. It offers conventional and minimally invasive treatment options for a myriad of spine diseases, handled by a collaborative team of experts in orthopedics and neurosurgery.

One of the goals of CSMC Memory Center is to create awareness, promote quality of life in the elderly and delay the progress of Alzheimers disease through its expertise in the brain and memory.
