The Radiology Department offers a wide range of radiological procedure, using state-of-the-art imaging technology, and performed by well-trained technologists, nurse, and radiologist to ensure accuracy and safety.
CSMC Radiology prides itself as one of the most technologically advanced Diagnostic Center in the country. Our equipment are state of the art, such as digital x-ray, digital mammography, cine fluoroscopy, dual-energy CT scan, and high end ultrasound machines. All acquired images may be evaluated through our PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). Despite these innovations and the first class service our patients receive, they are assured of pricing at par with that of other institutions.
Our medical staff; the men behind these machines, are among the country’s most renowned radiologists. Our residency and fellowship training programs have produced some of the country’s most sought after radiologists.
Our machines adhere to a comprehensive radiation reduction scheme designed to keep radiation exposure levels for patients and users as low as possible without compromising image quality.
Among the newly acquired machines of the Department are the Siemens SOMATOM Drive dual energy CT Scan.
X-ray is only a part of radiology. An array of imaging modalities are also available such as, mammography, CT scan, nuclear medicine and positron emission tomography provide the radiologists the arsenal to diagnose and to some extent treat these diseases.
Other modalities that do not utilize radiation are also included such as ultrasound, which uses sound waves to produce images. Magnetic resonance imaging is another modality which makes the use of magnetic fields and its interaction with the human body.
Interventional radiology is a subspecialty of radiology. It offers an alternative to open surgical procedures which involves small incisions, less pain and shorter recovery times. Interventional radiologists use their expertise in interpreting X-rays, ultrasound and other medical images to guide small instruments such as catheters through the blood vessels or other pathways. These procedures are typically much less invasive and much less costly than traditional surgery.
