September 11, 2019
Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) is one of the recipients of the Asian Hospital Management Awards (AHMA) last September 11-12, 2019 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Staying true to the commitment of nation-building with its vision of becoming the hospital of choice providing excellent healthcare and world-class medical training, the hospital has once again shown that healthcare professionals are multi-faceted individuals who can be innovators as much as providers of care.
Hospital Management Asia (HMA) is an award-giving body that recognizes the best practices of various hospitals across Asia. For the past 18 years, the annual conference gives healthcare leaders the opportunity to gather and exchange insights towards better healthcare management. This year, among the 500 entries received from 129 hospitals across 17 countries, 5 entries from the Philippines have been shortlisted as finalists, and 2 of those are from Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
Winning the Gold Award under the Talent Development category is Philippine Center for Advanced Surgery (PCAS) Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) Training Center, the pioneering training centre for MIS in the Philippines, accredited and recognized here and abroad and continues to set high standards in training for minimally invasive surgery. Receiving the Excellence Award under Innovations in Healthcare Technology category is Project E.R.R.A.N.D (Electronic Real-time Rounds Activities for Nursing Division): Using Technology for Productivity and Better Patient Care. This is one of the innovation projects from CSMC Supervisory School which made use of technology to collect real-time feedback from in-patient using mobile phones, tablets and computers and provide reports to unit managers for faster decision making and provision of support to enable the desired patient and nursing experience.
Both awards for Cardinal Santos Medical Center were received by members of the Senior Management and Medical Executive Committee led by SVP & Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Zenaida M. Javier-Uy, joined by PCAS-MIS Executive Director, Dr. Alfred Allen E. Buenafe on behalf of the hospital’s President & CEO, Atty. Pilar Nenuca P. Almira. The conference allowed medical practitioners and healthcare professionals to take inspiration from others to make healthcare available and accessible for everyone in the best way possible.
