The 39th Founding Anniversary of Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) last August 15, 2013 was a day of double celebration for the hospital as AJA registrars (an independent third party registrar certification body) formally awarded CSMC the prestigious ISO 9001: 2008 certification.
CSMC guarantees that its existing Quality Management System could deliver consistent, safe, and quality patient care at all times as the organization’s policies and procedures were evaluated in the context of ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System.
Along with ISO, CSMC was also certified by Investors in People (IiP), an internationally recognized framework in people management and development. CSMC has stood up to raise its standards in people management to live up to its mission of providing excellent patient care. CSMC’s alignment with the IiP framework further propels the organization to grow, transcend and outperform its feat over the coming years.
During the 2013 Asian Hospital Management Awards held in Bangkok, Thailand last September 13, 2013, Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) has been conferred gold and excellence awards under categories of Cost Reduction Project and Human Resource Development respectively.
The Asian Hospital Management Awards in conjunction with Hospital Management Asia is the accepted body within the Asia Pacific region bestowing distinction to healthcare institutions that have effectively and profitably initiated and employed best hospital and patient care practices. Annually, there are about eleven (11) categories to vie for, ranging from management and improvement of facilities, services, costs to human resource.
There were 298 submitted entries posted by 78 hospitals across 13 participating countries. Non-competitive career advancement program and the curtailed shift arrangement of CSMC were evaluated and selected to have yielded the most advantage to the organization amongst the rest of the entries.
The Gala Dinner and Awards Night held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand was attended by delegates and executives of the various healthcare organizations from all over Asia and some parts of the world. CSMC President, Atty. Pilar Nenuca P. Almira together with CSMC representatives Ms. Delia C. Ramos (Assistant Vice President for Nursing Division) and Ms. Marjorie P. Carrasco (Department Head for Learning & Development) received the awards.
It is the pleasure and privilege of Cardinal Santos Medical Center to have contributed to global human resource and cost management best practices while concurrently raising both standards of its conglomerates and nation.

CSMC, a premier and highly reputable hospital in the Philippines, has stood up to raise its standards in people management to live up to providing consistent excellent patient care. After a rigorous two-day assessment, with select members of the management and non-management employees as respondents, CSMC has been certified to be a real INVESTOR IN PEOPLE. CSMC was awarded the certification in a ceremony held during the People Management Association of the Philippines’ general membership meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City last July 31, 2013.
CSMC, with its aim for excellence in people management standards, met the terms of a tangible measure of success through the IiP certification. July 28 is World Hepatitis Day. In line with this, CSMC holds several patient information activities to create more awareness of Hepatitis diseases.
- Hepatitis B is the world’s most common serious liver infection. Chronic or long term hepatitis B infection may lead to severe liver damage, cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), liver cancer and death.
- Hepatitis C the infection of the liver by the Hepatitis C Virus. Over decades, chronic infection with HCV damages the liver and can cause liver failure. HCV infection is a risk factor for the liver cancer.

Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) is once again raising the standards for complete patient care by partnering with Voyager Innovations, Inc. – a wholly owned subsidiary of wireless services leader Smart Communications, Inc. – to develop mobile health applications, a digital health platform, and a portal that will pave the way for improved doctor-patient engagement.
